Ensuring a proper storage environment, implementing anti-rust measures, and attending to storage details will maintain the pipes in good condition and provide reliable support for production and construction in various industries.
Storage Requirements for Seamless Steel Pipes
- Environment:
The storage area must be dry and well-ventilated, with an indoor temperature kept above 15°C.
- Drainage:
Trenches should be present in the storage area to facilitate drainage and prevent water accumulation.
- Protection:
Protect seamless steel pipes from prolonged exposure to sunlight and rain. If stored outdoors, ensure proper sun and rain protection measures are in place.
Precautions for Storing Seamless Steel Pipes
- Inspection:
Thoroughly inspect the pipes before storage. Address any defects or damage promptly to prevent issues in future use.
- Handling:
Handle the pipes with care during transportation and storage to avoid physical damage such as collisions and falls.
- Maintenance:
Avoid long-term storage of seamless steel pipes. Conduct regular inspections and perform necessary maintenance, including anti-corrosion treatments, based on the actual condition of the pipes.
- Stacking:
Follow the first-in-first-out (FIFO) principle to ensure materials are used in the order they are received.
Stack pipes by variety and specification while ensuring stability and safety.
Stack different types of materials separately to prevent confusion and mutual corrosion.
Avoid storing corrosive items near the steel pipes.
Elevate and level the bottom of the stack to prevent dampness or deformation.
For outdoor storage, use wooden mats or stone strips underneath the pipes, with a slight tilt for drainage. Ensure materials are placed straight to avoid bending and deformation.
- Stack Dimensions:
Manual stacking height should not exceed 1.2 meters, and mechanical stacking height should not exceed 1.5 meters.
Stack width should not exceed 2.5 meters.
Maintain inspection channels of approximately 0.5 meters and access channels of 1.5 to 2.0 meters, depending on material size and transportation machinery.
- Elevation:
If stored on a cement floor in a sunny warehouse, elevate the stack bottom by 0.1 meters.
On a mud floor, elevate by 0.2 to 0.5 meters.
For outdoor storage, elevate by 0.3 to 0.5 meters on a cement floor and 0.5 to 0.7 meters on a sand and mud surface.
