① This specification is applicable to drill pipes with specially processed ends, see 9.1.

In the dimension tables of this specification, pipes are designated by the outer diameter dimension. The outer diameter of the outer thickened pipe refers to the outer diameter of the pipe, not the outer diameter of the thickened part.

Measuring device
Where calibration or calibration of test or measuring devices is required by this specification, and the device is subjected to abnormal or severe conditions that would cause its accuracy to be questioned, it shall be recalibrated or recalibrated before further use.
Special process
Special workmanship is the final operation in the pipe manufacturing process that affects the properties required by this specification (in addition to chemical composition and dimensional requirements). Available special processes are heat treatment, non-destructive testing and, if applicable, cold finishing.

2. Manufacturing process
General
Drill pipe furnished to this specification shall be manufactured by the seamless pipe fabrication method defined below.
a. Seamless pipe refers to steel pipe products without welds, which are manufactured by hot rolling. If necessary, cold working can be carried out on the hot rolled pipe to obtain the required shape, size and performance.
b. Cold drawn drill pipe without proper heat treatment is unacceptable.
Heat treatment
The heat treatment process shall be carried out in accordance with documented procedures.
a. Group 1 drill-pipe shall be normalized or, at the manufacturer's option, full-length normalized and tempered or quenched and tempered. If there is thickening, heat treatment should be carried out after thickening.
b. Group 3 Unless otherwise agreed between purchaser and manufacturer, drill pipe furnished to this specification shall be heat treated by quenching and tempering or normalizing and tempering. Upset drill pipe shall be heat treated through the length after upsetting.
Tube material
All steel grades and groups of drill pipes supplied according to this specification shall have fine grains. Pipe steels shall contain one or more fine-grained elements, such as aluminium, niobium, vanadium or titanium, in amounts such that the steel obtains a smaller austenitic grain size.
Batch definition (Group 1 and Group 3)
A batch of tubes is defined as tubes of the same size and size that have been heat-treated in accordance with a documented procedure that ensures compliance with the applicable requirements of this specification, either from the same heat-treating furnace, or from the same heat-treating furnace in a continuous (or batch) process, or from different heat-treating furnaces. All pipes of steel grade.
Traceability
The manufacturer shall establish and follow a procedure for retaining furnace and/or batch identification until all specified furnace and/or batch tests have been completed and compliance with the specification is demonstrated.

3、 chemical composition

Chemical composition requirements
Drill pipes supplied according to this specification shall meet the chemical composition requirements specified in Table 3.

Melting analysis
Upon request by the purchaser, the manufacturer shall provide a melting analysis report for each heat of steel used to manufacture the ordered pipes. In addition, according to the buyer's requirements, the manufacturer shall provide quantitative analysis results of other elements normally used to control physical properties in addition to phosphorus and sulfur content.
Product Analysis
The product analysis of each heat of steel shall be carried out on the finished pipe. Product analysis results shall be provided to the buyer upon request by the buyer. In addition to the quantitative analysis of phosphorus and sulfur, the product analysis should also include the quantitative analysis of all other elements used by the manufacturer to control the mechanical properties. Product analysis shall be done with two samples.
Product retest analysis (all groups)
If the analysis results of two pipes representing a heat of steel do not meet the specified requirements, at the option of the manufacturer, the heat of steel may be scrapped, or the remaining part of the heat of steel shall be tested one by one to determine whether it meets the requirements. If only one of the two samples fails to meet the specified requirements, at the option of the manufacturer, the heat may be discarded, or two more pipes shall be taken from the heat for retest analysis. If the results of the two re-inspection analyzes meet the requirements, the furnace steel shall be judged as qualified except for the unqualified one in the initial inspection; if one or two samples are unqualified in the re-inspection analysis, the manufacturer shall Select, or scrap the whole furnace of steel, or test the remaining pipes of the batch one by one. When carrying out root-by-root testing, only analyze unqualified elements or elements that need to be determined. The sampling method for product retest analysis is the same as that for product analysis. When specified in the order form, all product retest analysis results shall be provided to the buyer.
